Riverboat Discovery

The kids and i recently took part in a touristy activity. We got on this huge riverboat and went on a tour. We learned so much about Alaska, especially the Fairbanks area. We didnt go down river very far but on the way down we were told about the houses that we made by hand, the people (President Regan) who has stayed in some of the houses and some of the people who own those houses. There were mayors, regular folks, and people who race in the Iditorod each year. We got to see their dogs and puppies and hear a little about how they train them for the big race. An airplane took off and landed on the river right next to us twice, for my son that was the highlight of the whole entire trip. That pilot told us about flying in the summer and the winter and how they land with skis on the planes in the winter. We saw Reindeer, owl, lots of animal hides, and an Indian village. At the Indian village there were several different types of buildings there for shelter during the winter and hunting season. They had a canoe made from a tree, baskets, a baby basket, all kinds of really neat things. I learned so very much and am so glad we took this trip.
For us being Military and living all over the place the one thing i have really tried to do is take advantage of what each community that we live in has to offer and learn a little about it. Here in the next couple of weeks we will be going on a train ride and then panning for gold. I am very excited for this trip, gold is what made this place what it is.
Well i hope you enjoy the photo's. Other than this i have been working very hard on getting some Christmas gifts done. I am almost done with my nieces and nephew. I want to get as much done before September as i can. I'd post pictures but i dont wanna ruin the surprise for my family members. Just know im really learning lots from Youtube tutorials! lol!
Thanks for stopping by....
